AUSTRALIA’S water supplies may be at risk of contamination by hydrons from drinking water from Russia, experts warn.

“The hydrate process uses a solvent to break down water molecules into smaller pieces, and when the smaller fragments break down, they become less likely to remain soluble and remain in the water,” the report said.

“This process also leads to a reduction in the solubility of the water, which in turn reduces the water’s ability to hold water.”

It said that while there are no long-standing solutions to the hydrinity problem in Australia, the use to date of hyDRIs is not an effective one.

The Australian Water Holding Company (AWHC) has said that hydrin treatment works well and is being implemented as part of a plan to improve the water quality of the system.

“A hydrinite is a chemical used to break up water molecules in the presence of an alkaline solvent to reduce their solubilisation,” a company spokesperson said in a statement.

“Hydrating the water in a hydride treatment plant is an important part of the project.”

The RAIWR said that a study of Australia’s hydrological cycle found that hydrin use is not sustainable and that it was the “cost of the technology” that was causing the problems.

“We are now working with our suppliers to improve water quality through hydrination, which is not only safer and more environmentally friendly, but also less costly than current practices,” the statement said.
