How to Choose the Right Truck Size for Your Furniture

A truck that is too small means two trips or pieces left behind, and one that is too big means paying for space you do not need and may not fit down the street. It is best to estimate the load before asking for a price.

What determines the truck size?

  • Number of rooms and size of pieces: a full bedroom is not the same as a small children’s room.
  • Large pieces: the living room set, bedrooms, wardrobes, the fridge, bookcases.
  • Number of boxes: books, kitchenware and clothes take more space than you expect.
  • Wrapping: furniture wrapped in bubble wrap and stretch film needs slightly more space in the truck.
  • Floors and elevator: these determine the number of workers and the method of moving, not the truck size alone.

A quick way to estimate

List the large pieces, estimate the number of boxes, photograph the rooms and send us the photos. There is no fixed table that suits everyone, because two apartments with the same number of rooms can differ a lot in load. We decide the size and number of trips after the inspection, in person or by photos.

A bigger truck is not always better

Narrow streets, entrances and compound gates can stop a large truck from getting in. Sometimes two smaller trucks or two trips suit better than one huge truck. Ask before booking: does the truck fit the street? Are there cables or low gates in the way? And see moving permits if the building is a compound.

One trip or two?

Two trips lengthen the move and may affect the price. For moves between governorates, it is better to load everything in one trip. You will find details in the guide to moving between governorates.

The closed truck

Whatever the size, ask for a closed truck that protects furniture from dust, rain and prying eyes. Details of our trucks are on the closed trucks page.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know one truck is enough?

Send photos of the rooms and a list of the large pieces, and after the inspection we decide whether one truck is enough or two trips are needed.

Does the price go up if I choose a bigger truck?

The price is usually affected by the truck size and the number of trips. We settle the details after the inspection and agree on the price before loading.

Can the truck enter compounds?

It depends on the compound’s rules and the size of the truck. Ask management about the permit and timings, and we will coordinate with you.
