Moving a Small Apartment: How to Move Fast and Organize the Space

A small apartment does not automatically mean an easier move; narrow corridors and a small elevator make every piece matter. These steps make your move faster and less crowded.

Start by getting rid of what you do not need

Every piece you get rid of reduces the number of boxes and the loading time, and saves space in the new apartment. Sell or donate unused pieces days before moving day, not on its morning.

Measure before you move

Measure the width of the apartment door and the stairs, and the elevator’s dimensions (width, depth and height), then compare them with your largest piece: the bed, the wardrobe or the sofa. Also measure the space available in the new apartment. A piece that will not fit or will not have room there needs a decision before the move, not after. See the guide to high floors and narrow stairs.

Plan the furniture layout in advance

Draw a simple plan of the new apartment and decide where each large piece goes, so pieces do not move inside the apartment more than once. In small apartments every half meter counts.

Dismantle furniture to save space

Beds, wardrobes and small desks take less space in the corridor and the truck if dismantled and wrapped, then assembled in their new place. We have a dismantling and assembly team, and you can learn more on the dismantling and assembly page.

Small, light boxes

On narrow stairs small light boxes are easier to carry. Put books and heavy dishes in small boxes, and blankets and clothes in larger boxes, and write on each box the destination room and its general contents. The wrapping method is in the furniture packing guide.

Choose the right truck

A small apartment does not always need a big truck, and a big truck may not even fit the street. We decide the right size after the inspection by visit or by photos, and you will find details in the guide to choosing the truck size.

If the new place is not big enough

If the new apartment is smaller than the old one, do not squeeze everything into it. What you do not need now can be kept in secure storage until it is needed. See the furniture storage guide.

Frequently asked questions

Does moving a small apartment need a big team?

Not necessarily. We decide the number of workers after the inspection by photos, according to the number of large pieces, the floor and whether there is an elevator.

Can a large wardrobe be moved down narrow stairs?

Usually it is dismantled and then assembled in the new apartment, and when needed we use the hydraulic crane. Send photos of the stairs and entrance so we decide before moving day.

Do you store part of the furniture?

Yes, we have our own warehouse to keep furniture until needed. We agree the duration and details with you.

How much does moving a small apartment start from?

Prices start from EGP 1,200, and the final price is set after the inspection according to the amount of furniture, the distance and the floor.
