Furniture Moving in Rehab and Madinaty: Permits, Preparation and Moving Day
Rehab and Madinaty are large, organized communities, and the more you prepare the procedures in advance, the faster moving day goes.

What makes moving in Rehab and Madinaty different?
Rehab and Madinaty are planned residential cities in New Cairo, divided into residential groups with organized streets, gates and security services. This organization makes it easy to get around inside the city, but it also means each group has its own rules on the entry of moving trucks and workers, and you need to know these rules before moving day, not during it.
What most often delays moving here is not the amount of furniture but three things: an inaccurate address, an entry permit not prepared in time, and an elevator not booked. If you deal with them in advance, moving day is usually faster and calmer.
Pin down the address
Both cities are large and buildings look alike in some groups, so send us the full address on WhatsApp:
- The city (Rehab or Madinaty) and the group or area.
- The building or villa number and the floor.
- The building’s location on the map (a pin) so the truck arrives directly.
- The name and phone number of someone who will receive the truck at the gate.
- Is there a service elevator, and can it be booked?
Entry permits step by step
Each group or management body has its own procedures, and we do not assume a single rule applies to everyone. It is best to ask the body responsible for your group directly, following these steps:
- Ask management or security about the conditions for the moving truck and workers to enter, and the days and hours moving is allowed.
- Tell us what management asks for; it is usually the truck details and the workers’ names, so we can prepare them for you well before the date.
- Ask about any fees, deposit or an amount refunded after the move.
- Agree with the neighbors on the corridor and the lift if the move will occupy them for hours.
- Keep a copy of the permit on your phone for moving day.
For more general questions to ask building or compound management, read moving permits, building management and the elevator: what to ask.

Buildings, villas and the elevator
In buildings, a service elevator saves a lot of time and reduces the chance of scratching walls and doors. Ask about booking it and its load and size limits, and tell us if there are large pieces such as a big wardrobe, a corner sofa or a bed that will not fit in it.
In villas, the obstacle is usually the interior staircase, the width of the entrance, or a garden and a long path to the truck. Send us photos of the entrance, the stairs and the doors so we decide whether dismantling and wrapping is enough, or we need extra workers or a crane. For the plan for moving from multi-floor villas, read moving furniture in multi-floor villas.
Moving between the two cities and to the rest of Cairo
The distance within Rehab, or between it and Madinaty, is relatively short, but moving to and from central Cairo or Giza is affected by traffic on the main roads at peak hours. Early-morning loading is best, or midweek away from the start and end of the month if possible. It helps to review the best time to move furniture before setting the date.
If your destination is another governorate, we serve all governorates; give the destination and the floor and we set the date and the team.
The preparation schedule before moving
- Two weeks before: ask management about permits, fees and elevator booking, and book the moving date with us.
- A week before: start packing what you do not use daily, and review the pre-move checklist.
- Two days before: disconnect appliances, empty the fridge and washing machine, and send us the permit details.
- A day before: make sure the elevator is booked and leave the entrances clear, and keep documents and valuables with you.
- Moving day: loading starts after recording the condition of important pieces with photos together with you, then unloading and assembly as agreed.
Common mistakes in Rehab and Madinaty
- Leaving the permit question to moving day, so the truck is held at the gate.
- Sending a general address without the building number or map location.
- Not booking the service elevator in buildings.
- Not measuring doors and stairs before moving large pieces.
- Leaving appliances plugged in or full until the morning of the move.

Moving day: what happens, in order?
So you know what to expect, this is the order of moving day with our team in Rehab and Madinaty:
- The team arrives at the gate according to the permit, and you or your representative sign for entry if asked.
- We review the important pieces with you and record their condition with photos before any movement.
- We dismantle what is needed, wrap the furniture in stretch film and bubble wrap, and put belongings in boxes sorted by room.
- We load along the agreed route (service elevator or stairs), and secure the pieces inside the closed truck.
- At the new place we unload and put each piece in its room, and assemble what we dismantled.
- We review the condition with you the same day before we leave.
