Dismantling and Assembling Bedrooms and Kitchens When Moving: What You Should Know

Large wardrobes and kitchens usually do not go down the stairs assembled, and the safest solution for them and for the building is to dismantle and then reassemble. This is what happens step by step.

Why do we dismantle furniture before the move?

  • Dismantled pieces are lighter and smaller, so they pass through narrow doors and stairs.
  • The chance of scratches and breakage is lower because legs, doors and shelves are moved separately.
  • The truck carries more pieces, arranged better.

The details of the service are on the dismantling and assembly page.

Bedrooms

  1. Wardrobes and drawers are emptied of their contents.
  2. Doors, shelves, legs and attached mirrors are dismantled, and the screws are put in a bag labelled with the name of the piece.
  3. Each piece is wrapped in stretch film with cardboard on the corners (see the packing guide).
  4. Everything is moved to the designated room in the new home and assembled there.

Kitchens

Kitchens are more complex because they have upper and lower units, appliances and pipes. When dismantling a kitchen, it matters that you know where the plumbing and electricity are in the new place, and that the place is ready to receive the units. Send us photos of the kitchen before the move so the technicians know the complex pieces and prepare the right tools.

Prepare the new place

  • Make sure the electricity, water, air conditioner spot and curtains are ready.
  • Finish any finishing work or painting before the furniture arrives.
  • Decide the place of each piece before arrival, or stay during assembly to decide the place on the spot.
