Moving Furniture and the Weather: Heat, Rain and Dust, and How to Protect Your Furniture

The weather in Egypt does not prevent moving, but it changes how you prepare: summer heat, sudden winter rain, khamsin dust and coastal humidity. All deserve a simple plan.

Extreme heat

Move in the early morning or after the afternoon where possible.
Do not leave wooden and leather furniture in direct sun for a long time before loading and after unloading.
Do not leave electrical appliances in the sun or in a hot closed vehicle for a long time.
Provide cold water for the workers, since working in heat needs rest and fluids.

Rain

Heavy rain wets pavements, stairs and vehicles. Cover furniture with an extra plastic wrap, lay cardboard or blankets across entrances and corridors to protect floors from mud and slipping, and do not load mattresses and MDF in the rain. If the rain is heavy, postponing the move is safer for the furniture and the team.

Dust and khamsin

Close the windows before loading, cover furniture with a good wrapper, and prefer a closed truck. On days when visibility on the roads is low, it is better to postpone a long-distance move if possible.

Humidity, the coast and Alexandria

Days are shorter, so start early to finish loading and unloading before sunset, and close the apartment doors between trips to keep the warmth and cleanliness.

Agree on a backup in advance
