Moving Rental Furniture: How to Avoid Disputes with the Landlord

Most rental disputes happen at handover and takeover, and documenting before and after the move protects you.

Document the apartment’s condition before leaving

Photograph and video every room: walls, floors, doors, the kitchen and the bathroom. It is best for the landlord or his representative to see the condition.

Review the contract

Check what it says about the fixtures you added (wardrobes, kitchen, air conditioner) and whether you are allowed to dismantle and take them, and agree with the landlord in writing before dismantling.

Protecting the apartment during the move

Damage mostly comes from furniture rubbing against walls, doors and floors. We wrap pieces before they leave, and use a crane when needed instead of maneuvering them in tight spaces.

Handover and keys

  • Record the electricity, water and gas meter readings and photograph them.
  • Pay any outstanding bills.
  • Hand over the keys with a signed handover record if possible.
  • Document the condition of the new apartment the same way before bringing in furniture.

Frequently asked questions

Should I dismantle the kitchen and wardrobes I installed?

It depends on the contract and your agreement with the landlord. Agree in writing before dismantling, and our team dismantles and installs kitchens and wardrobes in the new home.

What if a scratch happens in the apartment?

Document the condition immediately with photos and tell the team before they leave, and review the compensation policy.
