Moving for Students and Shared Housing: A Few Pieces on a Tight Budget
A student dorm or a shared apartment is a small move, but it needs its own planning: a tight budget, limited space and more than one person. With planning, you pay only for what you need.
Start with what you actually need
Before you book, separate what you need in the new place from what can stay with family, be sold or be donated. Every box less means less space in the truck, and may spare you a bigger truck. For how to sort, read decluttering before moving.
Choose the right truck
If your things are a few pieces (a bed, a small wardrobe, a desk and some boxes), a small truck may be enough instead of a large one. Tell us the pieces, floors and elevator and we will suggest the most suitable, and you may find how to choose the right moving truck size helpful.
If you are more than one person
- Agree from the start on who owns each piece and who moves it so items are not duplicated or forgotten.
- Write a shared list of furniture and appliances (fridge, washing machine, TV...) and who will pay for or keep them.
- Split the moving cost by agreeing in advance on each person’s share.
- Choose a day that suits everyone so you can attend together or one person represents you.
Save time, not safety
- Prepare the boxes and wrap the pieces before the team arrives; that reduces time.
- Dismantle beds and small desks yourself if you can, and tell us if you need help with dismantling and assembly.
- Check the building elevator booking or the condition of the stairs before the move.
- Avoid peak times to save time, and see the best time to move furniture.
Know the price before you book
Send us the two addresses, the list of pieces and the floors on WhatsApp, and we set the price once we know the details. Prices with us start from 1200 EGP and the final price is set after inspection, with a 30% deposit to confirm the booking and the rest after the move is completed. In the new housing
Agree with your housemates on each person’s place and pieces, and photograph the condition of the room and the existing furniture before bringing in your things. See moving furniture in small apartments for organizing tight space.
