Furniture Moving in Dokki and Mohandessin: Traffic and Old Buildings
Two busy areas with buildings of mixed ages, where the key to moving is coordinating parking and the stairs before the date.

Why is moving in Dokki and Mohandessin different?
Dokki and Mohandessin are among the busiest areas of Giza for cars and pedestrians, with residential buildings of mixed ages, some old with narrow stairs and a small elevator or none, and some modern with management and moving rules. On commercial streets, parking in front of the building can be hard during the day.
So the key to moving in both areas is coordinating before the date: where to park, the stairs, the doorman’s or management’s approval, and a time that avoids the traffic.
Traffic and parking
Before moving day, agree with us on the following:
- The nearest place the truck can park, and whether it is in front of the building or on a side street.
- The best time: usually early morning or a day off to avoid the peak traffic.
- Can a parking spot be held with a car or by coordinating with the doorman?
- The direction and width of the street, so we choose the right truck size.
On narrow streets we may use a smaller truck or more than one truck instead of one large truck that blocks the street; we decide that once we know the details.
Stairs and the elevator
In old buildings the stairs may be narrow or winding, and apartment doors may be smaller than the large pieces. Send us photos of the entrance, the stairs and the doors, and measure the width of the door and the elevator if you can. Accordingly we decide:
- Dismantling large pieces (wardrobes and beds) and then assembling them in the new place.
- Wrapping pieces in stretch film and bubble wrap to protect the piece and the walls.
- Using a crane for a high floor or pieces that cannot be brought down the stairs.
Read moving furniture from high floors and narrow stairs to know when a crane is needed.

The doorman and management
In many buildings in both areas, the doorman or building management organizes the entry of moving. It helps to tell them the date in advance and ask about the permitted moving hours, limits on using the elevator, and any fees or conditions to protect the corridors. We take care to protect floors and walls during the move, but coordinating in advance prevents any last-minute objection. For details read moving permits, building management and the elevator.
Offices and clinics
Dokki and Mohandessin have many offices, clinics and small companies. Moving offices needs a schedule that reduces downtime, such as loading in the evening or on a day off, sorting files and equipment, and dismantling and assembling desks and cabinets. Read moving offices and companies without stopping work, and ask us for an inspection visit to set the plan.
- Sort files and equipment before the move.
- Ask your IT team to disconnect the equipment and document the connections.
- Decide the location of each office and room in the new place before unloading.
The preparation schedule
- A week before: book the date, and ask the doorman or management about moving hours and the elevator.
- Three days before: send us photos of the entrance, the stairs and the width of the doors.
- A day before: disconnect appliances, empty drawers and coordinate the parking spot.
- Moving day: we start early, record the condition of important pieces with photos together with you, then load, move, unload and assemble.
Moving day: what happens, in order?
In both areas the speed of the move is affected by the coordination of access and parking, so we organize the day as follows:
- The team arrives at the agreed time and parks the truck in the agreed spot.
- We protect floors, walls and corridors where needed, and record the condition of important pieces with photos together with you.
- We dismantle large pieces and wrap them in stretch film and bubble wrap.
- We bring pieces down by the stairs, the elevator or the crane according to the plan, with a worker coordinating movement at the bottom of the building.
- We move, unload and assemble in the new place, then review the condition with you.
Protecting the stairs and walls in old buildings
Walls, railings and marble floors in old buildings can be affected by friction while moving large pieces. We reduce that by wrapping pieces with corner protection, by moving pieces in stages instead of carrying them all at once, and by dismantling what is hard to get through. If you want extra protection for a particular part of the building, tell us before the date. Also read moving fragile items.
What affects the price?
Prices start from EGP 1,200, and the final price is set after the inspection by visit or by photos. In this area the price is affected by the floor and whether there is a suitable elevator, how hard parking is, the need to dismantle large pieces or use a crane, and the amount of furniture and the distance.
