Why does moving in Faisal and Haram need planning?

Faisal and Haram are among the densest areas of Giza in population, shops and traffic, and many of their streets are busy all day, with many residential buildings, some without an elevator and with narrow stairs. This does not prevent the move, but it is better to arrange things in advance so no time is lost on moving day.

Streets and parking

On main and commercial streets it may be hard for a large truck to park in front of the building. Agree with us before the date on:

  • The nearest point where the truck can park, and the distance to the building door.
  • A time when traffic is lighter (usually early morning).
  • Are there shops, kiosks or cars that block parking?
  • Can you agree with the doorman or neighbors to clear a spot?

If parking in front of the building is not possible, we park the truck at the nearest safe place and move the pieces with the right number of workers.

Buildings without an elevator

In buildings without an elevator, the effort of moving multiplies with every floor. Tell us the floor number, the number of steps, the width of the stairs, and whether there are bends or narrow doors. Then we decide:

  • The right number of workers for the floor.
  • Which large pieces need dismantling before they come down.
  • Whether a crane suits some pieces better than the stairs.

Neighbors and corridors

In crowded buildings, moving occupies the corridors and stairs for hours. It is kind and useful to tell the neighbors the date in advance, clear the corridors and entrances of shoes, bicycles and any obstacles, and ask the doorman about the requirements. We protect floors and walls as far as possible during the move. For details read moving permits, building management and the elevator.

Packing and dismantling

Narrow stairs mean more friction with walls and railings, so good wrapping matters: we wrap wooden pieces and upholstery in stretch film, glass and mirrors in bubble wrap, and dismantle wardrobes and beds that will not pass the stairs and assemble them in the new place. The preparation schedule

  1. A week before: book the date, and send the address and photos of the street, stairs and doors.
  2. Three days before: tell the doorman and neighbors, and start packing what you do not use.
  3. A day before: disconnect appliances, prepare the corridors, and keep documents with you.
  4. Moving day: we record the condition with photos, then load, move, unload and assemble.

Moving day: what happens, in order?

  1. We arrive, set the truck’s parking point, and assign workers to the stairs, the entrance and the truck.
  2. We record the condition of important pieces with photos, and dismantle and wrap the pieces.
  3. We bring pieces down the stairs floor by floor, protecting the corners and the railing.
  4. We load the closed truck in an order that protects the pieces.
  5. We move, unload and assemble in the new place, then review the condition with you.

Tips to cut moving time

  • Move less: get rid of what you do not need before the move to reduce the boxes and the trips on the stairs.
  • Keep the corridors clear: do not leave shoes, bicycles or bags on the stairs.
  • Prepare the boxes and small belongings before the team arrives.
  • Measure the large pieces and the doors to know what needs dismantling.
  • Keep the keys to both apartments and the phone number of someone who will follow the unloading at the new place.

Common mistakes in Faisal and Haram

  • Not telling the company the floor number and that there is no elevator, so the number of workers is not enough.
  • Assuming the truck will always park in front of the building without checking the street.
  • Leaving large pieces unmeasured against the doors and stairs.
  • Not clearing the corridors and stairs of belongings.
  • Setting a date at the peak of traffic.
